Howard "Larry" Barrs, 67, of Dillsburg passed away Monday, December 27 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in White Springs, Florida and grew up in the Pompano Beach, Florida area. He was the son of Melvena Corbett of Dowling Park, Florida and the late Howard G. Barrs.
Larry was a 22 year veteran of the United States Air Force including service during the Vietnam War. He recently retired with 23 years in Civil Service and his last duty station was the Carlisle Barracks Contracting office.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Woodring-Barrs; one son, David Barrs of Belleville, Ill.; one daughter, Valerie Mainridge (and husband Michael) of Troutdale, OR; two step-sons Robert Woodring, III (and wife Natalie) of Scofield Barrack, HI and Aaron Woodring of Rota AFB, Spain; one step-daughter Shannon Wong (and husband Sambat) of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Shirley Clark of Branford, Fl; four granddaughters, Meghan, Mallory, and Mary Barrs all of Collinsville, Ill and Briana Barrs of Greensboro, NC; 3 step grandchildren Jordan and Ethan Woodring and Layla Wong. He is preceded in death by his step grandson Tyler Woodring. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by his canine girls, ShellBe, Haylee, and Grace.
